  • Description

The first draught regulator for outdoor use

As the first draught regulator for use outside the building, the ZUK 130 DW is a real novelty:

  • No “opening” within the building
  • Tight building when the fireplace is not in operation (Blower Door Test)
  • No external supply air required in the installation room
  • Easily accessible for adjustment and, if necessary, maintenance
  • Unique in terms of safety and function
  • First externally usable draught regulator
  • Patent pending

The task

The dimensioning of flue gas systems or chimneys depends on the fireplaces to be connected to them.

The delivery pressure (draught) required for the fireplace is subject to natural fluctuations from changing flue gas temperatures and changing influences from weather and building inflow. In this case, a sometimes significantly higher draught occurs alternately in the flue gas system and negatively influences the function of the fireplace. To ensure safe operation, the flue systems are designed for an assumed outside temperature of 15 °C (according to EN 13384).

When operating the fireplace, the above-mentioned influences result in a deterioration of the efficiency, optimum combustion and pollutant emissions.

The efficiency deteriorates, the energy consumption increases. Draught regulator limit the chimney draught to the optimum value for the fireplace.

The solution

Draught regulator, also referred to as secondary-air appliances in DIN 4795, are mechanical or motorised components that create uniform draught conditions in a flue gas system.

As soon as the draught in the chimney exceeds the optimum value, the regulating disc of the draught regulator opens and limits the delivery pressure via the additional air volume supplied. As soon as the preset value is reached, the control disc closes again. This process, as simple as it is effective, ensures uniform combustion and measurable energy savings.

Investments in draught regulator pay for themselves after a short time due to the reduced fuel consumption and show simple ways of reducing heating costs in the private and industrial sectors. Clean combustion and fine dust reduction are further positive effects.

  • Technical data

Functional principle of draught regulator DW (outside)

  • P1 + P2 – Delivery pressure in connecting pipe and chimney
  • P3 – draught regulator acts in the above function
  • High wind pressure outside (upwind) can create overpressure in the chimney
  • Due to special design, direct inflow to the draught regulator not possible
  • In case of particularly strong inflow, negative pressure (P4) in front of the draught regulator
  • Opening angle of the Z is reduced o. control disc closed completely if necessary
  • No danger of flue gas being forced into the installation room
